Statement on Course Conditions from Walter Driver, Chairman of the USGA Championship Committee

After the first two groups had completed play on the 7th hole this morning, the USGA delayed play for 10 minutes to lightly syringe the 7th green.  The USGA will continue to syringe this green periodically throughout the course of the day.

With the course drying out, the Shinnecock Hills ground crew syringes the ninth green during final round play in the U.S. Open. (John Mummert/USGA)

The USGA is also in the process of lightly syringing one time all the other greens on the golf course.

The USGA will continue to monitor course conditions throughout the round and take steps that may be deemed appropriate.
