Senior Open Champion Chapman Withdraws from U.S. Open
Reigning U.S. Senior Open champion Roger Chapman withdrew from the 2013 U.S. Open Championship on Tuesday because of a shoulder injury.
Chapman, who was fully exempt into the championship, was replaced in the field by Scott Stallings, of Knoxville, Tenn., the first alternate from the Memphis sectional qualifying site.
Stallings shot 70-69—139 at Colonial Country Club on June 3.
Chapman is the third fully exempt player to withdraw from the U.S. Open in the past week due to injury. Two-time U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen (2001 and 2004) and Richard Sterne, both from South Africa, also pulled out. Sterne became exempt on May 27 by virtue of being inside the top 60 in the Official World Golf Rankings.
