Player Bio

Q. Long day but a fantastic round of golf, if you can describe it.

LUCAS GLOVER: Yeah, played well. Obviously the key to making birdies is hit it in the fairway and I've been doing that for the most part, drove it great this afternoon, and however many holes I have left.

Then you know, I've been putting well, so greens have been receptive luckily or we would be in a lot tougher spot. But I've been driving it good and making some putts, making some birdies.

Q. You have yourself in very good position obviously.

LUCAS GLOVER: Yeah, I've got to come back out in the morning and get loose and do what I've been doing, and that's hitting the ball in the fairways with the greens as receptive as they are, if you can do that, you can make birdies.

Q. Is it frustrating when you have to stop when you're playing this well?

LUCAS GLOVER: No, I'm tired and hungry and sleepy.

Q. Were you happy you were in this half of the draw?

LUCAS GLOVER: Well, yeah, sure, I guess. I've been on the other side, too. So I think the last time I had the rain in 2002 here on Thursday or Friday, whatever day that was, and you know, I've been on the other side and half of the field was good and half of them weren't.

Q. How do you feel about sleeping on the lead?

LUCAS GLOVER: Sure, absolutely. I'm going to sleep good tonight no matter what.

Yeah, I mean, it's still a long golf tournament. We are going to have a couple more long days with the weather and all that stuff, so we'll just take what comes.

Q. How is the course playing today?

LUCAS GLOVER: It's good. It was tough. But again, I hit the ball in the fairway, and that was my key. If you drive it good in an Open, you have opportunities but the golf course is great. Kudos to the maintenance staff, good grieve, we walked down to the first fairway and there was no water. I was very surprised. I thought it was going to be a slopfest. The guys did a heck of a job. No casual water all day. Very impressed after what we saw riding out here yesterday afternoon. Those guys deserve a big pat on the back.

Q. You've been driving the ball accurately all year; is that something you're concentrating on in the off‑season?

LUCAS GLOVER: I've always been long. Obviously you hit one or two more fairways a round, it's beneficial, and you know, just one of those weeks or one of those days, I guess, and just drove it straight all day. I think this morning, I only made two pars and I drove it in the rough and that tells you how tough it is if you do.

I've been fortunate to find the fairways so far.
