The older brother of nine-time LPGA Tour winner Ai Miyazato is set to make his second consecutive U.S. Open start after tying for 23rd at Oakmont Country Club in 2016. Advanced out of a 6-for-3 playoff in the Ono City, Japan sectional on May 22, earning the final spot with an 18-foot birdie on the eighth playoff hole. Five of his six professional victories have come on the Japan Golf Tour. On Aug. 25, 2006, he became the second modern-era golfer to record two holes-in-one in the same round, achieving the feat during the PGA Tour's Reno-Tahoe Open. He won the Japanese collegiate title in 2000 and the Japan Amateur in 2001. He represented Japan in the 1998, 2000 and 2002 World Amateur Team Championships.
