Qualified for his first U.S. Open by shooting 7-under 137 in the Columbus, Ohio, sectional held at The Lakes Golf & Country Club and Brookside Golf & Country Club. Owns eight worldwide victories, including two on the European Tour. His last victory came in the Maybank Championship this past February. The victory vaulted him inside the top 100 of the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time. That also earned him a place in the WGC-Mexico Championship, where he shared the 36- and 54-hole leads before settling for a tie for ninth. That was his first-ever start in a PGA Tour-sanctioned event. Two days later, he received a special invitation to play in the Masters.
