Competing in his first U.S. Open after earning medalist honors in the Rockville, Md., sectional, posting 8-under 136 at Woodmont Country Club. Turned professional in 2015 after a successful college career at North Texas University, where he won two tournaments in his senior season (2015), including the Conference USA title. Quickly won two tournaments on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica's Developmental Series, which earned him exempt status on PGA Tour Latinoamerica. Playing on a sponsor's exemption in the 2016 Club Colombia Championship, an event on the Web.com Tour, Munoz came away victorious, and eventually finished 22nd on that circuit's money list to earn PGA Tour playing privileges for the 2016-17 season. This will be his second major championship after missing the cut in the Open Championship last year at Royal Birkdale.
