Qualified for his second U.S. Open via the Memphis, Tenn., sectional, where he survived a 9-for-3 playoff for the final spots by making a birdie on the first extra hole. Finished the 36-hole event at Ridgeway Country Club/Colonial Country Club at 7-under 136. Made his professional debut two years ago at Oakmont Country Club, but missed the cut. This came after he won the NCAA Division I individual title at Eugene (Ore.) Country Club, and helped the Ducks claim the team championship with a victory in the final match over Texas. His college teammate, Sulman Raza, also qualified for this year's U.S. Open. Was born in South Africa, but moved to Southern California when he was three. Registered his first PGA Tour win last month at the AT&T Byron Nelson Classic. In 2017, Wise claimed the Air Capital Classic on the Web.com Tour. The victory enabled him to lock up PGA Tour status for the 2017-18 season.
