T-21 (2011)

Enjoyed a highly decorated amateur career that included a runner-up finish in the 2011 U.S. Amateur at Erin Hills (lost to Kelly Kraft) and low-amateur honors in the 2011 U.S. Open at Congressional Country Club. He also was a member of the 2011 USA Walker Cup Team. A week after his T-21 finish in the 2011 U.S. Open, Cantlay shot a course-record 60 during the PGA Tour's Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn. It was the lowest round ever shot by an amateur in a PGA Tour event. The following week, he was the low amateur in the AT&T National and he also was the low amateur in the 2011 RBC Canadian Open. He turned professional in 2012 as the No. 1 player in the World Amateur Ranking after tying for 41st in the U.S. Open at The Olympic Club, forgoing his final two seasons at UCLA. But back issues plagued Cantlay until last season when he managed to qualify for the season-ending Tour Championship after starting the year on a medical extension. This will be his third U.S. Open appearance, but first as a professional.
