When is the 118th U.S. Open?

The 118th U.S. Open will be played at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y., from Monday, June 11 through Sunday, June 17.

 

How can U.S. Open tickets be purchased and what type of tickets are offered?

Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased at www.usga.org/tickets.

A Gallery ticket provides access to the grounds of Shinnecock Hills.

A Top of the Hill ticket provides access as well as the ability to enter the Top of the Hill, which is an open-air facility with a beer garden-style atmosphere offering a panoramic view of Shinnecock Hills Golf Club. Local culinary options and full bar service with local craft beer and win offerings will be available for purchase at an additional cost. A variety of seating options, live television network coverage and access to executive restrooms are also included.

A Trophy Club ticket includes Gallery access as well as the ability to enter the Trophy Club, which is a tented pavilion on the grounds of Shinnecock Hills. It includes access to separate restrooms as well as seating in an air-conditioned pavilion. Food and beverage inside of the Trophy Club will be available for purchase.

An 1895 Club ticket includes Gallery access and gives ticket holders the ability to enter the 1895 Club, which is an all-inclusive tented facility on the grounds of Shinnecock Hills. It includes access to separate restrooms as well as seating in an air-conditioned pavilion. Food and beverage (including alcohol) is included in the ticket price.

Please note: The Trophy Club and 1895 Club are separate tents and require the proper ticket type to enter.

Does the U.S. Open offer parking and transportation options?

LONG ISLAND RAIL ROAD

MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) is the easiest and most convenient way to get to the U.S. Open. LIRR is committed to providing safe and comfortable transportation. Train service will be provided in both directions on the Montauk Branch and will accommodate customers traveling from either New York City or Eastern Long Island. Shinnecock Hills Golf Club is located 85 miles from New York’s Penn Station and the trip is expected to take approximately two hours.

A temporary LIRR train platform will be constructed in close proximity to the championship entrance.  In early May, please visit www.mta.info/lirr for schedule and fare information. 

After exiting the train, fans will proceed through security screening prior to crossing a pedestrian bridge to reach the championship grounds. Provisions for persons with limited mobility will be in place to enable access to the championship. Regular fares will be charged. Tickets purchased after boarding the train carry an additional charge, so the LIRR encourages golf fans to purchase tickets in advance from a Ticket Machine, staffed Ticket Office, or through MTA eTix (www.mta.info/mta-eTix-promo), a mobile ticketing App. Please visit www.mta.info/LIRR for information on schedules and fares (information will be posted on or about May 15).

Shinnecock Hills Golf Club is located on the south shore of Long Island, N.Y., about 85 miles east of New York City. Complimentary parking and shuttle transportation will be provided to and from Shinnecock Hills Golf Club. The general parking lot will have accessible parking spaces for vehicles displaying appropriate HP/DP license plates or placards. For fans requiring lift-equipped shuttle transportation, please contact the USGA Admissions Office at 800.698.0661 for further information.

HAMPTON JITNEY MOTOR COACHES

Hampton Jitney will be offering two transportation options to and from the U.S. Open: deluxe fully equipped motor coaches to and from New York City and East End Shuttle service along the south fork from and to points east of the course. Tickets must be purchased in advance at https://reservations.hamptonjitney.com/special.

U.S. OPEN PARKING (JUNE 11-17)

Complimentary parking will be provided at Francis S. Gabreski Airport. Gabreski Airport is due west of Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Westhampton Beach. Please follow general parking signage and/or directions from parking attendants to the designated parking location. From the parking lot, complimentary shuttle

transportation will be provided to and from Shinnecock Hills and is expected to take approximately 25 minutes.

Please note: There is no general parking or parking for fans with disabilities available in the immediate vicinity of the golf course. All other parking is by permit only.

Preferred driving directions to Francis S. Gabreski Airport are below. Physical addresses are not available.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:

From the West using I-495 Eastbound

•          Follow I-495 East. Take Exit 70 from I-495 East for CR 111 (Manorville/ Eastport).

•          Turn right onto CR 111 South and continue for 5.2 miles.

•          Turn left to merge onto NY-27 East and follow for 3.8 miles.

•          Take Exit 63S (Westhampton Beach) for CR 31/Old Riverhead Road.

•          Turn right onto CR 31 South/Old Riverhead Road and follow signage to the parking lot.

From the West using Southern State Parkway Eastbound

•          Follow Southern State Parkway toward Eastern Long Island.

•          Take Exit 44E for NY-27 East toward Montauk.

•          Merge onto Sunrise Hwy South Service Road for 0.5 miles.

•          Use the left lane to merge onto NY-27 East and follow for 28.4 miles.

•          Take Exit 63S (Westhampton Beach) for CR 31/Old Riverhead Road.

•          Turn right onto CR 31 South/Old Riverhead Road and follow signage to the parking lot.

From the East and using NY-27 Westbound

•          Follow NY-27 West/CR 39 West.

•          Take Exit 63S (Westhampton Beach) for CR 31/Old Riverhead Road and follow signage to the parking lot.

PASSENGER DROP-OFF (UBER/LYFT/TAXI)

Passenger Drop-Off will only be allowed at the designated area, located at Stony Brook Southampton, which is a 10-minute walk to Gate 2. There is no parking or staging for vehicles, so please coordinate pickup times accordingly. Please follow directional

signs and attendants to the appropriate pickup and drop-off location. Due to traffic restrictions, access is limited to vehicles no larger than a 12-passenger van or limousine.

BICYCLES

Fans choosing to ride a bicycle to the championship are instructed to follow directions and signage to the general parking lot (Francis S. Gabreski Airport) or to the designated Passenger Drop-Off location. Bike racks will be provided to secure bikes at each of these locations. Owners are responsible for the security of their bicycles.

Does the U.S. Open offer travel and experience packages?

When and how will U.S. Open tickets be shipped?

Tickets will be shipped in early May 2018 via the United States Postal Service.

 

Does the U.S. Open offer a Junior and Student ticket discount?

Yes, juniors ages 18 and under – when accompanied by an adult ticket or credential holder:

Gallery Junior tickets are complimentary.

Additional access for juniors when accompanied by an adult ticket or badge holder, with the following access:

Trophy Club and Top of the Hill:

  • Ages 12 and under – complimentary
  • Ages 13 to 18 - $20 for a practice round day (Monday–Wednesday) and $40 for a championship round day (Thursday–Sunday)

1895 Club Access Junior Tickets:

  • Ages 18 and under - $75 for a practice round day (Monday – Wednesday) and $130 for a championship round day (Thursday – Sunday)

Junior tickets are available on-site at Will Call only and never sell out. There is a maximum of two Junior tickets per one adult ticket or badge holder.

Students ages 19-24 with valid school ID and driver’s license or other proof of age:

Special offer during practice round days (Monday-Wednesday) only:

  • Trophy Club tickets for students are available at the reduced Gallery price $60.
  • Student tickets are available on-site at Will Call only and never sell out.

 

Does the U.S. Open offer a military ticket discount?

Yes, our military discount policy applies to the practice round days of the U.S. Open Championship for ACTIVE and RETIRED military. The military ticket policy covers all branches of service, including Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy, the National Guard and Reserves.

  • Tickets for Active Military are complimentary and can only be obtained at Will Call from June 11-13 (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday). In addition, Active Military can purchase up to four (4) Practice Round tickets per day for family or friends at half price.
  • Tickets for Retired Military can be purchased at Will Call from June 11-13 at half price. In addition, Retired Military can purchase up to four (4) additional Practice Round tickets for family or friends for half price.


Active and Retired Military need to show military identification AND regular photo identification at Will Call in order to receive the military tickets for any of the practice round days. Tickets for military will always be available on the practice round days.

 

Does the U.S. Open offer a discount for senior citizens?

The USGA does not provide a discount to senior citizens.

What ADA/Accessibility options are provided at the U.S. Open?

The USGA is committed to providing a positive and user-friendly experience for all fans with disabilities. The following services will be provided:

  • The USGA provides accessible parking spaces in the general fan parking lots for all vehicles having appropriate license plates or placards.
  • Our Disabled Services Committee will be on-site to assist fans with transportation to and from the Disabled Services headquarters and specific grandstand locations and facilities throughout the course via multi-person golf carts.
  • A limited number of motorized scooters will be available at Disabled Services headquarters for fans on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Accessible restrooms will be available at portable restroom locations throughout the championship grounds and at corporate hospitality areas.

What is the Bag and Inspection policy?

Backpacks, briefcases, and/or bags cannot be larger than 6”W x 6”H x 6”D in their natural state.

Transparent/clear plastic hand and shoulder bags no larger than 12”W x 12”H x 12”D are permitted.

Infant/Medical Exception: All bags exceeding the restricted size limit but exclusively for the care of infants accompanying an adult are permitted. In addition, bags and/or containers/coolers exceeding the restricted size limit but exclusively used for medical needs are permitted.

All bags are subject to search by security

What happens if there is a weather warning on the golf course?

The USGA will have meteorology staff on-site to monitor weather conditions. If hazardous conditions are approaching, special “weather warning” messages will be posted on leader boards around the course. When the warning appears, fans are advised to take immediate precautions, including clearing the grandstands, prior to play being suspended. If play is suspended, indicated by one prolonged air horn blast, please close your umbrella and seek shelter. Please note that play will resume as soon as conditions allow. No ticket refunds, exchanges, rain checks or replacements will be issued. However, the USGA, in its sole discretion, may or may not honor a day’s ticket for subsequent day(s) or partially or fully refund a day’s ticket if fewer than five (5) cumulative hours of play are conducted during an affected day. Information regarding this USGA decision will be posted online at www.usga.org and www.usopen.com.

When is Will Call open?

Will Call will be available for fans beginning on Thursday, June 7 through Sunday, June 17.

Hours of Operation:

            June 7 – June 10: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

            June 11 – June 18: 6 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Will concessions be available on the course?

Yes, there will be concession stands located throughout the grounds of Shinnecock Hills featuring a variety of food and beverage options available for purchase.

Will grandstands be available on the course?

Yes, grandstand seating will be located at strategic viewing areas throughout the golf course for fans. Seating is provided on a first-come, first-served basis and grandstands will be closed upon reaching capacity. Access to the grandstands is subject to applicable USGA policies, which will be posted at the entrance to each grandstand.

Is there re-entry into the U.S. Open?

Yes, re-entry is permitted throughout the day with a valid ticket for that day. Any fan choosing to leave the grounds and re-enter must have their valid ticket to do so.
