F-5: Runner-up in 2023 U.S. Amateur Championship

The Ohio State University fifth-year graduate student earned his first U.S. Open start by finishing runner-up in the 2023 U.S. Amateur at Cherry Hills Country Club in suburban Denver. He lost to Nick Dunlap in the 36-hole final. It was part of an amazing summer for the Pittsburgh, Pa., native, as he finished fourth in the Elite Amateur Series, thanks to runner-up finishes in the Sunnehanna Amateur, Trans-Mississippi Amateur and Dogwood Invitational. He also was third in the Pacific Coast Amateur. In his final season at Ohio State after playing three seasons at James Madison University, Shipley won the Southwestern Invitational and finished fourth in The Hayt. The 2022 Pennsylvania Amateur champion was an honorable-mention All-American for the 2022-23 season.
