Earned his sixth U.S. Open start by surviving a three-hole playoff for the last spot at the Canoe Brook Country Club final qualifier in Summit, N.J. Herman birdied the par-4 12th hole to eliminate Mike Miller in what started as a 4-for-1 playoff. Herman owns four professional victories, three of which have come on the PGA Tour. His last was the 2020 Wyndham Championship after barely making the cut, Herman carded rounds of 61-63 on the weekend to win by a stroke. Herman's breakthrough victory came in 2016 at the Shell Houston Open and he later won the 2019 Barbasol Open. The University of Cincinnati alum also won the 2010 Moonah Classic, a co-sanctioned event between the Nationwide Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour) and the PGA Tour Australasia. After turning professional in 2000, Herman played on several mini-tours and worked as an assistant professional before finally gaining his Nationwide Tour status in 2008.
