Earned his fourth U.S. Open start by being the medalist in the Rolling Hills Country Club final qualifier in Rolling Hills Estates, Calif. Kim posted a 36-hole total of 10-under 134. Kim registered his fourth Japan Golf Tour victory in October 2019 at the Japan Open Golf Championship. Although born in the Republic of Korea, Kim spent most of his childhood in Honolulu, Hawaii. He attended Arizona State University after graduating from Hamilton High in Mesa, Ariz. He currently resides in Gilbert, Ariz., but plays primarily in Asia. He did win the 2009 Pacific Coast Amateur at The Gallery outside of Tucson, Ariz. He tied for 11th in the 2017 Open Championship conducted by The R&A.
