The Duke University rising senior qualified for his first U.S. Open by surviving local qualifying in Durham, N.C., and then shooting 9-under 135 in the Ball Ground, Ga., sectional at Hawks Ridge Golf Club. Eaton was the only non-Georgia Tech golfer to earn one of the four available berths. The Alpharetta, Ga., native qualified for both the U.S. Amateur and U.S. Junior Amateur in 2016. In 11 tournaments during the 2018-19 season, Eaton compiled a 70.42 stroke average with one victory, three top-5s and six top-10s. His victory came at the Nike Collegiate Invitational at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. His father, Scott, played golf at Texas-Arlington, and his mother, Kim, played golf for Iowa State.
