PERSONAL NOTES
First golfer from Indian to qualify for the European Tour. Also the first player from India to compete in the Masters (2007).
At Abilene Christian in Texas, Singh won the 1993 NCAA Division II individual title, then turned pro later in the year.
Owns three victories on the European Tour, the last coming in the 2008 Bank Austria GolfOpen. Six-time winner on the Asian Tour and four-time titlist on the Japan Golf Tour.
Best finish in a major came at 2008 PGA Championship, where he tied for ninth.
Father Milkha, nicknamed the Flying Sikh, was an Olympic sprinter in the 1960 and ’64 Summer Games in Rome and Tokyo, respectively. Mother, Nirmal Kaur, captained India’s national volleyball team.
Undergoes yoga exercises before playing.
