Had strong rookie campaign on European Tour in 2007 with four top-10 finishes, becoming the first German to be named Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year
Followed that up in 2008 by finishing eighth on the Order of Merit, including a wire-to-wire win at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship; also won in his homeland at the BMW International Open, which put him inside the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking
