Garcia is still seeking his first major title but has contended in several U.S. Opens. He owns 29 worldwide wins, including nine on the PGA Tour, most recently at the 2016 AT&T Byron Nelson Classic in a playoff over Brooks Koepka. Garcia won the 1998 Amateur Championship conducted by The R&A and was the youngest winner of European Amateur when he claimed the 1995 title at 15; he also won the 1997 British Boys and was a semifinalist in the 1998 U.S. Amateur. Garcia represented Spain in 1996 and 1998 at the World Amateur Team Championship and is a seven-time European Ryder Cup member.
