McDowell became the first European winner of the U.S. Open since Tony Jacklin in 1970 when he won the 2010 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach; came close again in 2012 at The Olympic Club, when he tied with Michael Thompson for second; nine of McDowell's 12 worldwide wins have come on the European Tour; member of victorious 2001 GB&I Walker Cup Team; three-time European Ryder Cup participant.
