F-13: Top 5 players in the 2025 FedExCup standings as of May 19, who are not otherwise exempt

The native of Venezuela and former University of Texas standout will be making his fifth U.S. Open start by being among the top five players in the FedExCup standings, not otherwise exempt, as of May 19. Vegas collected his fourth PGA Tour win at the 2024 3M Championship in Minnesota. That came seven years after his third victory in July 2017 when he successfully defended his RBC Canadian Open title. His first win was the 2011 Bob Hope Desert Classic (now American Express Championship) in La Quinta, Calif. Vegas also represented Venezuela in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro as the game made its return to the program after a 112-year hiatus. He also represented Venezuela in the 2002 World Amateur Team Championship. Vegas advanced to the semifinals of the 2007 U.S. Amateur at The Olympic Club, where he lost to eventual champion Colt Knost. Vegas has a younger brother, Julio, who also played at Texas.
