Schutte survived two stages of qualifying to earn his first U.S. Open start. He was the co-medalist in the final qualifier at Tacoma Country & Golf Club, shooting 3-under 139, and he carded a 70 in his local qualifier at Oswego Lake C.C. It also will be quite the Father's Day weekend at The Los Angeles Country Club as his wife gave birth to the couple's first child a day after he qualified for the U.S. Open. Schutte has bounced around on various mini-tours, posting a pair of wins on the Dakotas Tour in 2020. Although he is an Oregon native, he has spent time in La Quinta, Calif.
