Lahiri earned his third U.S. Open start after shooting 10-under 132 in the Columbus, Ohio, sectional qualifier conducted at Brookside Golf & Country Club and Scioto Country Club. Since turning professional in 2007, Lahiri has produced 18 worldwide victories, including two on the European Tour (2015 Hero Indian Open and 2015 Maybank Malaysian Open). Lahiri learned to play golf at the age of 8 from his father, Dr. Tushar Lahiri, a physician with the armed forces who was also a recreational golfer. Lahiri missed the cut in his first two U.S. Open starts in 2015 and 2016. As an amateur, he represented India in the 2006 World Amateur Team Championship.
