Earned his first U.S. Open start after being the first alternate from the Columbus, Ohio, sectional qualifier. Survived a 7-for-1 playoff for first-alternate status, shooting 4-under 138 at Brookside Golf & Country Club and Scioto Country Club. Tied for 71st in his first major-championship start in May at the PGA Championship. Played one season for the University of Washington after a strong high school career that saw him win a pair of 3A state titles at Clarkston (Wash.) High School. Turned professional in 2010 and worked his way through the Mackenzie Tour-PGA Tour Canada, PGA Tour Latinoamerica and the Web.com Tour to earn status on the PGA Tour. A cancer survivor, Dahmen had his best PGA Tour finish earlier this season when he was the runner-up to Max Homa at the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C.
