The New Orleans, La., native will make his second U.S. Open start, and first in nine years, after finishing second in the 3M Open outside of Minneapolis in late July. Long owns one PGA Tour victory, the 2019 Desert Classic by one stroke over Phil Mickelson and Adam Hadwin. Although born in New Orleans, Long grew up in St. Louis, Mo., and later attended Duke University. He turned professional in 2010 and spent some time on various mini-tours before gaining status on PGA Tour Canada in 2014. From 2015-17, he played on the Web.com Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour), making 79 starts while posting seven top-10 finishes. He joined the PGA Tour in 2019 and quickly won the Desert Classic. Thus far in the 2019-20 season, Long has a runner-up finish in the Mayakoba Classic, a solo eighth in the Waste Management Phoenix Open and the aforementioned 3M Open. Long's best finish in three major-championship starts is a T-41 in last year's PGA Championship at Bethpage State Park.
