The son of 2011 U.S. Senior Open champion Olin Browne finally qualified for a U.S. Open in his 17th attempt. Browne Jr., who played his collegiate golf at Pepperdine University (just 22 miles north of The Los Angeles Country Club), was the medalist in the Columbus, Ohio, final qualifier, shooting 11-under-par 133. He also advanced out of one of the earliest local qualifiers on April 27 at The Cape Club of Palm City (Fla.). Olin Browne Sr. qualified for 12 U.S. Opens and most notably shot a 58 at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Md., en route to qualifying for the 2005 championship at Pinehurst. Browne Jr. has bounced around several tours since turning pro in 2011. He's played 24 events on the Korn Ferry Tour, including 19 in 2019. Most recently, he has competed on the Minor League Golf Tour, tying for third in the Abacoa May Classic at the end of May.
