The 2019 Latin America Amateur champion will tee it up for a second time in a U.S. Open after posting 4-under 136 in the Durham, N.C., final qualifier, a day that included a second-round 63. His older brother, Carlos, has also previously qualified for the U.S. Open (they played together in 2021 at Torrey Pines). Alvaro was a standout at the University of Arkansas before turning professional after tying for 36th in the 2019 Masters. He owns three professional victories, including the Abierto Mexicano de Golf in 2021 on the PGA Tour Americas. He also lost in a playoff in the 2017 LAAC to Toto Gana. He represented Mexico in the 2014, 2016 and 2018 World Amateur Team Championships. He represented the International side in the 2018 Palmer Cup.
