The South African will make his sixth U.S. Open start after earning medalist honors at the final qualifier held in Columbus, Ohio, where he posted 13-under 131 at Kinsale Golf & Fitness Club. In November of 2023, Van Rooyen registered his first PGA Tour win since the 2021 Barracuda Championship at the World Wide Technologies Championship, playing the inward nine in 8-under 28 for a final-round 63. He attended the University of Minnesota before turning professional in 2013. In 2019, he collected his first European Tour (now DP World Tour) victory at the Scandinavian Invitation. He also has collected one win apiece on the European Challenge Tour and Sunshine Tour. His best finish in a major is a tie for eighth in the 2019 PGA Championship at Bethpage State Park.
