F-13: The top 5 players in the 2024 FedExCup standings as of May 20, who are not otherwise exempt
The South African will make his fifth U.S. Open start after being among the top five players in the 2024 FedExCup standings on the PGA Tour as of May 20, who were otherwise not exempt. Last November, Van Rooyen registered his first PGA Tour win since the 2021 Barracuda Championship at the World Wide Technologies Championship, playing the inward nine in 8-under 28 for a final-round 63. He attended the University of Minnesota before turning professional in 2013. In 2019, he collected his first European Tour (now DP World Tour) victory at the Scandanavian Invitation. He also has collected one win apiece on the European Challenge Tour and Sunshine Tour. His best finish in a major is a tie for eighth in the 2019 PGA Championship at Bethpage State Park.
