Final Qualifying: Shot 70-69--139 at Kinsale Golf & Fitness Club, in Columbus, Ohio, on June 2

Cole will make his fourth U.S. Open start after being a late add to the field as the second alternate from the Columbus, Ohio, final qualifier. When Columbus qualifiers Bud Cauley and Cameron Young each vaulted inside the top 60 after the RBC Canadian Open on June 8, it opened the door for the first and second alternates to get into the field. Cole was involved in the 5-for-1 playoff for the finals spots, edging out PGA Tour winners Rickie Fowler and Max Homa for second-alternate status. Cole comes from a family of accomplished golfers. His mother, Laura Baugh, won the 1971 U.S. Women's Amateur at 16 years of age. His father, Bobby Cole, a native of South Africa, registered 13 worldwide professional victories, and tied for third in both the PGA Championship and The Open Championship in 1974 and 1975, respectively. Eric, who owns 12 wins on the Minor League Golf Tour, lost in a playoff at the 2023 Honda Classic to Chris Kirk. He competed on the Korn Ferry Tour from 2016-2022 before joining the PGA Tour in 2023.
