Final Qualifying: Shot 67-71 at Dallas (Texas) Athletic Club on May 20

Kanaya, a former recipient of the McCormack Medal for being the leading amateur in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, is set to make his second U.S. Open start after playing in the all-exempt field in 2020 at Winged Foot Golf Club. He shot 4-under-par 138 at the Dallas Athletic Club final qualifier. Before turning pro, Kanaya spent 55 weeks atop the WAGR and even claimed a Japan Golf Tour event during that span. He turned professional in 2020 and has since amassed five more victories on the Japan Golf Tour. He owns seven worldwide victories. As an amateur, he represented Japan in the 2016 and 2018 World Amateur Team Championships and was on the International Team for the 2019 Palmer Cup.
