Hillier will make his U.S. Open debut at Pebble Beach, but it won't be his first USGA championship at the iconic venue. Last August, the New Zealand native shared stroke-play medalist honors in the 118th U.S. Amateur Championship before losing in the Round of 32 to two-time U.S. Junior Amateur runner-up and 2015 U.S. Open qualifier Davis Riley. Hillier shot 8-under 136 in the Surrey, England, sectional qualifier conducted on the Old and New courses at Walton Heath Golf Club. He represented New Zealand in the 2018 World Amateur Team Championships in the Republic of Ireland. At the time he qualified for the U.S. Open, he was No. 27 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
