Widing will make his U.S. Open debut after earning medalist honors at the Woodmont Country Club final qualifying, posting a 36-hole total of 9-under 133. Claimed back-to-back titles on the Korn Ferry Tour this season, winning a playoff at the LECOM Suncoast Classic and then shooting a final-round 63 to take the Veritex Bank Championship. Those are his only two professional wins to date. He competed in last month's PGA Championship at Valhalla, but missed the cut. He played his collegiate golf at the University of San Francisco. He also spent 10 years playing ice hockey in his native Sweden.
