The former University of Texas All-American and U.S. Amateur runner-up will make his second U.S. Open start, and first as a professional, after being a late add to the field on June 9. Ghim was involved in a 7-for-1 playoff for the final spot at the Bent Tree Country Club final qualifier in Dallas on May 19. He earned first-alternate status, then got into the championship via the reallotment. Ghim was the runner-up to Doc Redman in the 2017 U.S. Amateur at Riviera Country Club. Redman rallied from 2 down with two to play to post a 37-hole victory. Ghim also was the runner-up in the 2014 U.S. Amateur Public Links to Byron Meth. And he reached the semifinals of the 2013 U.S. Junior Amateur. He represented the USA on the victorious 2017 Walker Cup Team and was a member of the 2016 and 2017 U.S. Palmer Cup Teams. He also won the 2017 Pacific Coast Amateur. He claimed the 2018 Ben Hogan Award. He's still seeking his first big professional win, but was the runner-up in the 2024 Shriners Children's Open on the PGA Tour.
