Sugiura will make his U.S. Open debut after earning medalist honors in the Japan final qualifier, posting a 36-hole total of 10-under 134. He won the 2024 Japan PGA Championship on the Japan Golf Tour, one of his three victories on the circuit. He also claimed the 2023 Dunlop Phoenix and the 2023 Dunlop Phoenix Challenge in Fukushima, both as an amateur. Thus far in 2025, he has one second-place showing in the International Series Japan Presented by Moutai. He represented Japan in the 2023 World Amateur Team Championship.
