The Uniontown, Ohio, native will play in his fourth consecutive U.S. Open after posting 5-under-par 135 at the Springfield Country Club final qualifier. Moldovan just completed his eligibility at The Ohio State University in 2024, where he helped the Buckeyes to the semifinals of the match-play portion of the NCAA Championships in Carlsbad, Calif.. Ohio State lost to Auburn, 3-2. Moldolvan was a four-time All-Big 10 Conference selection and two-time All-American. In the 2021-22 season, he posted three victories. Moldovan set the lowest single-season scoring average in each of his first three seasons in Columbus and finished with the most career rounds in the 60s (48). His 71.25 career scoring average was the lowest in program history. This is the same school that produced the likes of Jack Nicklaus, Tom Weiskopf and John Cook. He earned All-Big Ten honors in each of his four years, including unanimous first-team selections in 2022 and 2023. In April of 2025, Moldovan registered his first PGA Tour Americas victory at the 70th ECP Brazil Open, finishing at 18 under par. Two weeks later, Moldovan made the cut in his Korn Ferry debut at the LECOM Suncoast Classic in Florida. In 2019, he was named the American Junior Golf Association's Player of the Year, and was a member of the 2019 USA Junior Presidents Cup Team. He advanced to the Round of 32 in the 2019 U.S. Amateur, losing to eventual champion Andy Ogletree. He also advanced to match play in 2023 at Cherry Hills Country Club. Moldovan also won the 2019 Ohio Amateur. He reached the Round of 16 of the 2019 U.S. Junior Amateur at Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.
