Haefner will make his U.S. Open debut after shooting 7-under-par 133 at the Springfield (Ohio) Country Club final qualifier. He also survived local qualifying at the Lochmoor Club in Michigan. Haefner played four years at Division II Wayne State in suburban Detroit before completing his fifth and final year at Jacksonville University in Florida. A Missouri native who now resides in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., turned pro in 2022 and now competes on the Minor League Golf Tour, where he has posted four victories, including his most recent triumph in February at Sandridge Golf Club in Florida. That was highlighted by an opening-round 64 en route to the two-stroke win. Haefner has a history with the USGA, having twice competed in the U.S. Amateur, including the 2021 championship also held at Oakmont Country Club.
