F-21: Top 60 points leaders and ties in the Official World Golf Ranking as of May 19
The left-hander from Lakewood, Wash., broke through for his first PGA Tour victory at the 2025 Cognizant Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., on the first Sunday in March. The former Pepperdine University star carded weekend rounds of 64-64 after making the cut on the number for a two-stroke victory. This will be his second U.S. Open start, and first as a professional. He missed the cut in the 2021 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines during his collegiate days. That year, Highsmith led Pepperdine to its second NCAA title with a victory over Oklahoma in the match-play final at Greyhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. The junior went 3-0 in match play, including a 4-and-3 win over OU standout Garrett Reband in the championship round. In 2017, Highsmith became the youngest winner of the Washington State Amateur. In 2019, he was named the West Coast Conference's Freshman of the Year. He turned professional in 2022. Highsmith honed his game at Tacoma Country & Golf Club, in Lakewood, the same course where the Putnam brothers (Michael and Andrew) learned their craft. All three played for Pepperdine.
