Final Qualifying: Shot 64-67 at The Golf Club of Georgia (Lakeside Course) in Alpharetta, Ga., on June 3

The native of Dacula, Ga., and University of Illinois standout will play in his first U.S. Open after sharing medalist honors at The Golf Club of Georgia final qualifier. He shot 13-under 131 to match Chris Petefish. This past season as a junior, Buchanan was named Big 10 Player of the Year, leading the Illini to the NCAA Championship, where they won the 72-hole stroke-play porition of the team competition. As a sophomore, he was the runner-up to Florida's Fred Biondi at the NCAA Championships in Scottsdale, Ariz. His father, John, played baseball at Mercer University. He advanced to the Round of 32 of the 2023 U.S. Amateur.
