Kuwana Country Club, a Seiichi Inoue design that opened for play in 1960, will be hosting U.S. Open sectional qualifying for the first time.

The sectional is conducted in association with the Japan Golf Association, and often attracts top professionals and elite amateurs from the Pacific Rim, which includes Australia, the People's Republic of China, Chinese Taipei, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.

Some of the notables to have qualified out of Japan in previous years include Hideki Matsuyama and Yusaku Miyazato, the brother of recently retired LPGA Tour player Ai Miyazato.

Kuwana Country Club is a parkland-style venue that features tall pines. The course has hosted numerous events, including the 2006 Japan Senior Open, the 2018 Chubu Open and the 2018 Mie Prefectural Open.
