Win (2016)

Ended several years of disappointment in major championships with his three-stroke victory at Oakmont Country Club last June. In 2015 at Chambers Bay, Johnson came to the 72nd hole needing birdie to force an 18-hole playoff with Jordan Spieth, but he three-putted from 12 feet. Ascended to No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking with his five-stroke victory in the Genesis Open at Riviera Country Club in February and then won the WGC-Mexico Championship two weeks later, becoming the fifth player to win in his first start as the world's No. 1 player. Followed that up with victory in WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play at Austin Country Club, giving him titles in all four WGC events. Besides his U.S. Open triumph, Johnson won three other times in 2016, including the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and the BMW Championship during the FedEx Cup Playoffs. He has represented the U.S. on three Ryder Cup and two Presidents Cup teams. He also was a member of the victorious 2007 USA Walker Cup Team.
