Lone amateur qualifier from the Portland (Ore.) Golf Club sectional. Shot 5-under 137 to garner one of the final two spots. Will be competing in first U.S. Open. Finished one stroke behind Christopher Babcock in local qualifier at Riverside Golf & Country Club in Portland. Was hero for the University of Oregon in the 2016 NCAA finals, clinching the deciding match against the University of Texas at Eugene Country Club for the Ducks. Was born in the Ukraine, but was adopted at a young age by his American parents. Has never met his biological parents. Qualified for match play at the 2011 U.S. Junior Amateur. Led Oregon back to the final match of the NCAA Championships in 2017, but the Ducks fell to Oklahoma at Rich Harvest Farms. Among the notables Raza beat in the match-play portion of the NCAA Championships include 2018 U.S. Open qualifier Sam Burns, Hayden Wood, Taylor Funk (son of U.S. Senior Open champion Fred Funk), Vanderbilt All-American Matthias Schwab and former University of Illinois standout Charlie Danielson. Wound up 5-1 in match play for his career.
