Straka will play in his third U.S. Open after qualifying for the season-ending Tour Championship. He was born in Vienna, Austria, to an American mother and Austrian father. The family moved to Valdosta, Ga., when he was 14, and he later played for the University of Georgia from 2011-2016, taking a redshirt season in 2013-14. Since turning professional in 2016, Straka has posted a pair of wins, including the 2022 Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., when he became the first Austrian to win on the PGA Tour. He also posted one victory on the Web.com Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour). He has a twin brother, Sam, who played golf at the University of Georgia.
