Final Qualifying: Shot 69-70 at Dallas (Texas) Athletic Club (Blue & Gold Courses) on May 20

Sung Kang earned his fifth U.S. Open start via the Dallas, Texas, final qualifier at the Dallas Athletic Club where he survived a 7-for-6 playoff after posting a 3-under-par total of 139. Kang owns five worldwide victories, including the 2019 AT&T Byron Nelson on the PGA Tour. Kang had a decorated amateur career that saw him win the 2006 SBS Lotte Skyhill Open on the Korean Tour. A couple of weeks later, he represented Asia/Pacific against Europe in the Bonnallack Trophy held in New Zealand. He also represented the Republic of Korea in the 2006 World Amateur Team Championship in South Africa. As the gold medalist in the 2006 Asian Games, Kang was able to avoid mandatory military service. He turned professional in 2007.
