The Austrian will make his U.S. Open debut after getting into the field as an alternate off the Official World Golf Ranking points list. Schwab turned professional in 2017 after an All-American career at Vanderbilt University. He then earned his European Tour card via Q-School that November and has been a fixture on that circuit ever since. In 2019, he finished second in the Porsche European Open and lost in a playoff in the Turkish Airlines Open. By the end of the 2019 season he had moved up to No. 80 in the OWGR. As an amateur, Schwab won the 2010 Austrian Amateur and represented his country in the 2016 World Amateur Team Championship. He also twice represented Europe in the Palmer Cup (2015 and 2016) and the 2012 Junior Ryder Cup.
