Ancer earned his fifth U.S. Open start by being among the top 60 in the Official World Golf Ranking as of May 22. Ancer registered his maiden PGA Tour win at the 2021 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational in Memphis, Tenn. Ancer owns two other professional victories: the 2015 Nova Scotia Open on the Web.com Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour) and the 2018 Emirates Australian Open on the PGA Tour of Australasia. Born in McAllen, Texas, and raised in Reynosa, Mexico, Ancer owns dual U.S. and Mexican citizenship. He played at Odessa (Texas) Junior College and the University of Oklahoma, where he registered a pair of wins. He graduated in 2013 with a degree in general studies and turned pro the same year. He went 4-1 in the 2019 Presidents Cup for the International side, losing only in Sunday singles to nine-time USGA champion Tiger Woods.
