Ancer earned his second U.S. Open start by advancing to the season-ending Tour Championship last August. He nearly collected his first PGA Tour victory at the RBC Heritage in June, falling one stroke short to 2012 U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson. Ancer owns two professional victories: the 2015 Nova Scotia Open on the Web.com Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour) and the 2018 Emirates Australian Open on the PGA Tour of Australasia. Born in McAllen, Texas, and raised in Reynosa, Mexico, Ancer owns dual U.S. and Mexican citizenship. He played at Odessa (Texas) Junior College and the University of Oklahoma, where he registered a pair of wins and posted the sixth-lowest scoring average in school history. He graduated in 2013 with a degree in general studies and turned pro the same year. He went 4-1 in the 2019 Presidents Cup for the International side, losing only in Sunday singles to nine-time USGA champion Tiger Woods.
