The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native will make his first U.S. Open start after getting into the field as the first alternate from a 36-hole qualifier in Surrey, England. Gumberg shot 7-under 137 on the Old and New courses at Walton Heath Golf Club on May 16. The last two seasons, Gumberg has bounced between the DP World Tour and European Challenge Tour. He also has played two events on the PGA Tour. Before turning pro, he spent two seasons at the University of Arizona and his freshman campaign at the University of Tennessee. In 2013, he won the Knoxville (Tenn.) Junior Open.
