2023 U.S. Open Offers Variety of Viewing Platforms
For those who cannot get to The Los Angeles Country Club in person for the 123rd U.S. Open Championship, NBC and its family of networks will be providing wall-to-wall coverage on a variety of networks and digital-media platforms. The comprehensive coverage will feature more than 200 hours of live programming headlined by four days of prime-time telecasts on NBC Sports.
Pre-championship programming begins on Monday, June 12 with Golf Channel’s Live From the U.S. Open, which will also air on Peacock, NBC’s digital streaming platform.
Besides the regular telecasts on Peacock, USA Network and NBC all four days, viewers can also choose from a variety of alternative programming, including Featured Groups and Featured Holes, and a new venture exclusively on Peacock entitled U.S. Open All Access Presented by Lexus. Hosted by Chris Vernon, U.S. Open All-Access will complement the live broadcast by doing whip-arounds from the main telecast, featured groups and featured holes as well as featuring a range camera to look at competitors preparing for their rounds. This program will air 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday to Saturday and 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 18.
For the opening two rounds on Thursday and Friday (June 15-16), Peacock will air live golf from 9:40 a.m. EDT to 1 p.m., followed by USA Network from 1 p.m.-8 p.m., with NBC taking over from 8 p.m.-11 p.m. These can also be viewed on usopen.com, NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app. On Saturday, NBC will air live coverage from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m., and from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. for Sunday’s final round. Peacock will broadcast from noon to 1 p.m. on Sunday.
NBC Sports will also complement its comprehensive U.S. Open coverage with live featured groups Thursday-Sunday, showcasing two morning groups and two afternoon groups each day of the championship. There will also be a featured holes feed highlighting the driveable, risk-reward sixth hole, as well as the 14th and 15th holes.
Featured groups will be shown live on Peacock, usopen.com, the new USGA mobile app, the USGA streaming app on connected TV devices, and via DirecTV. In total, there will be more than 100 hours of complementary digital coverage in 2023.
Golf Central Live on Golf Channel will also be providing post-round analysis of the four competition days upon the conclusion of play. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday (June 15-17), these shows will air from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m., and from 10 p.m. to midnight on Sunday, June 18.
In addition to the golf coverage, the USGA’s app will provide live scoring, features, videos, photos and other news from the championship.
