Bio

Horschel will make his 12th U.S. Open start thanks to being among the top five players in the 2024 FedEx Cup standings as of May 20, who were not otherwise exempt. The former University of Florida star owns eight PGA Tour victories (10 worldwide), the latest coming in the 2024 Corales Puntacana Championship in the Dominican Republic. His previous victory had come in the 2022 Memorial Tournament, and he captured the 2021 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, defeating 2013 U.S. Junior Amateur champion and future two-time Masters champion/current world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, 2 and 1, in the 18-hole final. Horschel closed out the 2014 season by winning the BMW Championship and Tour Championship to claim the FedExCup title. Horschel, who won the DP Tour's flagship event in 2021 (European BMW Championship), shared the 36-hole lead with Phil Mickelson in the 2013 U.S. Open at Merion, where he tied for fourth. He was a member of the victorious 2007 USA Walker Cup Team, and represented the USA in the 2008 World Amateur Team Championship. He also holds the USGA 18-hole scoring record, shooting a 60 at the Chaska (Minn.) Town Course in the first round of the 2006 U.S. Amateur.
