Ortiz is set to make his fourth U.S. Open start as he survived a 3-for-1 playoff at his final qualifier in Boynton Beach, Fla., to nab the final spot. Ortiz registered his first PGA Tour victory at the 2020 Vivint Houston Open. The former University of North Texas standout also posted three Web.com Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour) victories in 2014 to earn a promotion to the PGA Tour. He was later voted the 2014 Web.com Tour Player of the Year. As an amateur, he represented Mexico in the 2010 and 2012 World Amateur Team Championships. He is the older brother of 2019 Latin America Amateur champion Alvaro Ortiz.
