Putnam will return to Pebble Beach (Calif.) Golf Links where he made his only other U.S. Open start in 2010 (missed cut) after jumping to No. 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking as of June 10. The University Place, Wash. He is the younger brother of Michael Putnam, a member of the victorious 2005 USA Walker Cup Team who had the honor of hitting the first tee shot of the 2015 U.S. Open at Chambers Bay, just down the road from where the two grew up. Putnam broke through for his first PGA Tour victory last August at the Barracuda Championship. His other two professional victories have come on the Web.com Tour. As an amateur, he won the 2010 Pacific Coast Amateur and he was a semifinalist in the 2006 U.S. Junior Amateur.
