The native of the Republic of Korea will make his maiden U.S. Open start, thanks to posting 4-under 138 at Dallas Athletic Club on May 18. Kim played four seasons at Boise State, where he posted one victory and was named All-Mountain West Conference as a senior in 2012-13. His 11 top-25 finishes as a senior is second all-time behind two-time PGA Tour winner Troy Merritt. He turned professional in 2014. Has competed on both PGA Tour China and the Korn Ferry Tour. He was adopted from his native Korea and grew up on Maui. Starting at age 11, he routinely served as a volunteer standard bearer for The Sentry Tournament of Champions at Kapalua's Plantation Course.
