The former Duke University standout will make his second U.S. Open start, but first since missing the cut in 2017 at Erin Hills, by virtue of being among the top 60 point leaders in the Official World Golf Ranking as of May 18. His best result to date in 2026 is a share of second in the PGA Championship at Aronimink, where he held the 54-hole lead. In 2023, she shared runner-up honors in the John Deere Classic, one of three second-place finishes on the circuit. While at Duke, Smalley was the stroke-play medalist in the 2016 U.S. Amateur at Oakland Hills Country Club. He graduated with a 3.6 grade-point average. Although born in Rochester, N.Y., he grew up in North Carolina.
