F-21: Top 60 points leaders and ties in Official World Golf Ranking, as of May 19
The former Stanford University All-American will make his third U.S. Open start, but first as a professional, thanks to being among the top 60 points leaders in the Official World Golf Ranking as of May 19. Since turning professional in 2017, McNealy has posted one victory, the 2024 RSM Classic on the PGA Tour. McNealy, the son of Sun Microsystems co-founder Scott McNealy (he sold the company in 2014 for $7.4 billion), enjoyed a highly decorated junior/amateur/college career, playing on a pair of USA Walker Cup Teams in 2015 and 2017 (victorious). He also qualified for the 2014 and 2017 U.S. Opens as an amateur. In 2015, he shot a final-round 61 at the Pacific-12 Conference Championship (won title), tying the 18-hole school record held by Tiger Woods and Cameron Wilson. He also won the 2015 Haskins Award, given annually to college golf's top player. He finished his Stanford career with 10 victories, including the NCAA Chapel Hill (N.C.) Regional title in 2015. McNealy, a former world No. 1 amateur who graduated with a degree in Management Science and Engineering, had thoughts of not turning pro for a career in business, but eventually chose to play for pay. His RSM victory came in his 134th start on the PGA Tour, making birdie on the 72nd hole to win by a shot. Besides his Walker Cup starts, he represented the USA in the 2016 World Amateur Team Championship and the 2015 and 2017 Palmer Cups.
